ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) manifests itself as cognitive and behavioral impulsivity associated with a significant impairment of attention span. The child is unable to inhibit distractors that disrupt his or her concentration. Impulsivity causes the child to respond without thinking and he or she cannot concentrate on the task for long. Hyperactivity may or may not be associated.

HPI

A person with High Intellectual Potential has a unique neurological functioning that translates into increased cognitive abilities. HPI is not a disorder, but an exceptional intellectual functioning. There is no consensus on the definition of a gifted person. However, one of the characteristics is their high intelligence quotient (IQ equal to or greater than 130).

Hypersensitivity

Hypersensitivity is a way of being sensitive to a certain number of things, which provokes internal or external reactions or both. The internal reactions can be more or less strong, even almost unbearable, and yet not be seen on the outside. External reactions can manifest by large gestures, tears or freezing.

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a learning disorder that disrupts the acquisition of written language in children. This difficulty leads to an impairment in reading. Dyslexia can be of several types such as phonological dyslexia, surface dyslexia. Frequently, but not systematically, dyslexia can be associated with dysorthography.

Dysorthography

Dysorthography is a learning disorder that affects the acquisition and mastery of spelling in children. This difficulty leads to an alteration in spontaneous writing or writing under dictation. There are several forms of dysorthography such as phonological dysorthography and surface dysorthography.

Dysphasia

Dysphasia is a learning disorder that disturbs the acquisition and use of oral language. There are five main types of dysphasia with very heterogeneous manifestations. In all cases, verbal communication is impaired in these otherwise intelligent and well-adjusted children.

Dyscalculia

Dyscalculia is a learning disorder that affects everything related to numbers, figures, mathematical logic and calculation. The child does not acquire the notion of number, does not understand numerical systems, and is unaware of arithmetic logic.

Dyspraxia

Dyspraxia (or coordination disorder) is a learning disorder that affects everything that is a voluntary gesture organized in sequences. The children have motor difficulties, particularly in planning, programming and coordinating complex gestures.
